Position: Mechanical Technician

Work Experience: 5 to 10 Years

The incumbent must be a technically skilled and experienced professional with a background in project and plant maintenance within the chemical, hydrocarbon, or polymer sectors. The role involves supporting mechanical installation and maintenance activities across both commercial-scale projects and the operational pilot plant.

He/she will be responsible for ensuring reliable mechanical performance of process equipment, assisting in fabrication and erection activities, and carrying out preventive and breakdown maintenance of plant machinery, piping systems, and utilities. The position requires hands-on experience, strong technical acumen, and the ability to work collaboratively with project, operations, and engineering teams.

Job Responsibilities and Skill Sets Required

1. Projects Brownfield and greenfield projects

• Capable of working with contractors and basic engineering and detailed engineering content, like data sheets, PIDs, equipment layouts, plant layouts. Piping and cabling activities.
• Execution of field jobs like piping, equipment installations, rotating equipment repairs and modifications, etc., with contractors and in-house help.
• Capable of generating simple drawings and documentation for layouts and plant modifications.
• Fully conversant with assembly drawings of equipment and parts of rotating equipment like pumps, blowers, compressors, etc.
• Perform welding and fabrication jobs individually and with in-house and external help.
• Work with vendors for custom fabrication jobs.

2. Procurement of hardware and capital goods - Assist in procurement follow-up and associated activities.

3. Able to design and draw piping diagrams for new hardware and modify existing hardware piping diagrams. Will be required to also develop piping diagrams for existing equipment, and maintain technical documentation.

4. Perform periodic preventive and field breakdown maintenance of rotating equipment individually.

5. Maintain stock of spares and consumables.

6. Ensure all tools are available and used appropriately.

7. Must be able to use MS Office for simple reports, etc.
