Job Highlight: WRI India is seeking a senior program associate for the Sustainable Cities and Transport Program to support our work on transport emissions and electrification. We are seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled individual to join our team as a Technical & Regulatory Engineer servicing the transportation sector. This role requires a strong foundation in engineering and a passion for solving complex challenges at the intersection of automotive systems, energy technologies, and public policy. The ideal candidate brings a multidisciplinary perspective to support initiatives in research, strategy, and regulatory analysis within the transportation and energy sectors. This role offers an excellent opportunity to engage in impactful research and gain exposure to cutting-edge initiatives in sustainable transport. What you will do: Conduct technical assessments related to powertrain systems, emissions calibration, and measurement technologies. Analyze engineering and policy data to inform strategic initiatives in transportation technology and systems. Support R&D efforts involving applied thermodynamics, electronics, and/or electrical engineering principles. Contribute to cross-functional projects involving technology and commercial maturity assessments, regulatory engagement, and market analysis. Provide insights on global and Indian transportation and energy policy landscapes. Prepare technical briefs, models, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders. What you will need: Bachelors degree in mechanical, Electrical, Automotive, or a related Engineering discipline (Masters preferred). 4 years experience at a Tier-I OEM or an automotive research and testing facility. Strong foundation in engine and powertrain systems, calibration techniques, and emissions measurement technologies, engine and vehicle-level testing. Demonstrated analytical, quantitative, and critical thinking skills. Strong written, verbal communication to compose exhaustive research reports. Research or product development experience in applied thermodynamics, electrical systems, or automotive electronics. Familiarity with national and international transportation policy frameworks, especially within the Indian context. Potential Salary and Benefits: 14,00,000 to 16,00,000 INR CTC Per Annum Salary shall be commensurate with experience and skills. WRI offers a generous and comprehensive benefits package. Job description - Partner with multi-functional teams and represent Manufacturing design team at FATP (Final assembly and testing) - Develop measurement technologies, control strategies, information systems, and manufacturing methods that achieve ambitious specifications at massive production scale - Strong assembly tolerance stack and failure analysis skills to quickly resolve assembly related issues - Compile and evaluate data to figure out appropriate limits and variables for process and part specifications - Lead activities to balance unparalleled quality with scalable yields - Ensure quality plan and measurements are aligned across different nodes of supply chain - Coordinate all Quality Engineering functions for a program, serving as project manager to lead efforts at FATP - Establish audit procedures appropriate to program and supplier to ensure alignment to Apple quality standards - Evaluate and communicate yields of new and existing processes - Drive corrective actions multi-functionally with internal and external team members Minimum Qualifications Experience in manufacturing and Quality Control of highly sophisticated electronic assemblies Experience developing process quality plans, supplier quality audits, and driving corrective actions and failure analysis efforts. Working knowledge of mechanical quality and reliability concepts, supplier management, and general manufacturing operations. Leading failure analysis with a first principles approach and large amounts of data Disciplined in GD&T practices with close attention to datum establishment and tolerance analysis Project management experience and a solid understanding of problem-solving tools including design of experiments, root cause analysis and statistical analytical tools using JMP or Minitab Familiarity with critical assembly/joining processes of glueing, HAF, PSA, welding & critical quality metrics Strong communication skills and passion to learn and adapt to a highly cross-functional collaborative environment Preferred Qualifications Strong project management and organizational skills Exceptional communication skills driven by strong teamwork, project management and results driven approach Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Technology, Chemical Engineering, Material Engineering or similar. ME/MS preferred
