You will perform research and development on new technologies necessary to tackle complex assembly and automation problems that have a direct impact on the quality and delivery of Apple products. Your role will involve designing, implementing, and successfully scaling automated and semi-automated solutions based on sound engineering principles and the technologies developed for a specific application. As a Precision Assembly and Measurement Engineer at Apple, you will be responsible for crafting precision assembly and measurement processes for Apple products. You will perform research and development on new technologies necessary to address complex assembly and automation problems that directly impact the quality and delivery of Apple products. Your responsibilities will include designing, implementing, and efficiently scaling automated and semi-automated solutions based on sound engineering principles and the technologies developed for a specific application. In this role, you will develop new and improved processes through the application of theoretical and practical engineering. You will stay updated on meaningful technical trends and developments and incorporate them into appropriate assignments. Additionally, you will provide direction and mentorship to third-party machine/automation suppliers and/or CMs, serve as a technical leader and driver on owned projects, and act as a technical resource to other engineering groups and project leaders. Your responsibilities will also involve coordinating cross-functional reviews requirements, design, qualification, and capability. You will create Request for Quotation/Proposal (RFQ/RFPs) that document the design requirements of the automated equipment, delivery schedule, required documentation, and qualification for acceptance at machine supplier facilities and contract manufacturers" factories. You will engage with machine suppliers for automated equipment design reviews and proposals. As a Precision Assembly and Measurement Engineer at Apple, you may be required to travel internationally as needed. You will run equipment experiments to determine the capability of the machine and be responsible for data analysis reports to communicate machine capability to multi-functional teams. You will perform assignments in several manufacturing engineering functions such as Design for Manufacturability, Product Engineering, Process Engineering, and Failure/Data Analysis. Minimum Qualifications: - 10+ years in an engineering role with experience in automation equipment used for alignment, assembly, and/or measurement of components - New Product Introduction and Manufacturing Operations experience - Bachelors/Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field) Preferred Qualifications: - Strong work experience in precision assembly, inspection, and automation equipment - Ability to understand and build tolerance analysis for parts and assemblies - Knowledgeable in crafting machine qualification requirements, design of experiments, and failure analysis - Understanding of machine qualification including calibration, correlation, capability, repeatability, and reproducibility - Effective communication skills in a worldwide environment - Proven track record of cost reduction, project management, and engineering design - Solid understanding of GD&T principles - Experience with NX, SolidWorks CAD, or ProE - Knowledge of optics principles related to CCD cameras, 2D and 1D lasers for positioning and critical alignment machines - Basic understanding of liquid adhesives, PSAs, and VHBs - Working knowledge of robotics, pneumatics, servo motors, motion controllers, PLC, and PC-based control systems - Experience with JMP, Minitab, and Six Sigma If you meet the qualifications and are excited about the opportunity to work at Apple, please submit your CV.,
