Role Purpose To deliver engaging and effective mathematics lessons across Key Stages [insert relevant KS, e.g. KS3KS5], fostering a positive learning environment that supports students in achieving their full potential in mathematics and developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Key Responsibilities Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality mathematics lessons in line with the curriculum. Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students. Assess, record, and report on the development, progress, and attainment of students. Create a positive, safe, and stimulating classroom environment that promotes respect and high achievement. Use a variety of teaching methods, resources, and technologies to engage learners. Contribute to curriculum development and enrichment opportunities within the Mathematics department. Prepare students for internal and external examinations (e.g. GCSE, A-Level, IB, IGCSE as applicable). Provide constructive feedback to students and communicate progress effectively with parents/carers. Participate in departmental and whole-school professional development, meetings, and initiatives. Undertake pastoral duties (e.g. form tutor role) and contribute to the wider life of the school. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics or a related subject (essential). Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, or international equivalent). Demonstrated experience of teaching mathematics at secondary level [specify KS3–KS5 depending on school need]. Proven track record of student progress and attainment. Skills & Attributes Strong subject knowledge and passion for mathematics. Effective classroom management and behaviour strategies. Ability to inspire, motivate, and engage students of all abilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Organised, reflective, and committed to continuous improvement. Collaborative approach to working within a team and wider school community.
