The position of Supplier Quality Engineer / Materials Engineer at GLOBALFOUNDRIES requires an experienced professional in the semiconductor manufacturing industry, with a minimum of 3-10 years of experience. The candidate will be responsible for handling supplier-related quality issues, ensuring the incoming chemicals, gases, wafers, slurries, and tooling meet the required specifications. Additionally, they should have a technical understanding of materials specification and its impact on semiconductor device performance. As a Supplier Quality Engineer, the candidate will collaborate with specific commodity or equipment suppliers and serve as the primary interface with suppliers and all GLOBALFOUNDRIES fabs across different locations. The main objective of the role is to prevent excursions caused by supplier incidents that could disrupt the normal production flow in the manufacturing line. The candidate will drive the implementation of best practices, continuous improvement initiatives, and work closely with internal stakeholders to mitigate any supplier, materials, or equipment-related excursions. Key responsibilities include driving discussions and improvements with suppliers, conducting formal structured problem-solving for incidents, performing external audits, assessing supplier performance, and collaborating with internal engineering groups to address supplier-induced issues. The candidate will also contribute to cross-site materials specification harmonization, support supplier and commodity qualifications for new processes, and provide input to the supplier management team. The successful candidate should have a Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in engineering, science, or a technical field related to materials science, chemistry, or electrical engineering. They should possess strong communication skills, the ability to work with multiple stakeholders, and proficiency in English language (written and verbal). Additionally, experience in semiconductor manufacturing, quality engineering, and familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) and FMEA development are preferred qualifications. This role may involve occasional travel for external supplier audits and working on first or second shift as required. The candidate should be able to work independently, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and collaborate effectively in a matrix environment. Being a team player, having certifications in quality auditing, and semiconductor process experience are desirable attributes for this position.
