Internal Job Title: Material Expert Business: Lucy Electric Manufacturing & Technologies India Pvt Ltd Location: Halol, Vadodara, Gujarat Job Reference Number: 4056 Job Purpose: The main purpose of the role is to serve as the key contributor in the engineering team for all material-related matters This will include guiding team for material selection, preparing material specification document, stay up to date on emerging materials and technologies, and assess their potential for new applications, analyzing material failures or defects and recommend corrective actions or material alternatives, ensure all selected materials comply with environmental, safety, and industry-specific regulations (e-g , REACH, RoHS, ASTM, ISO) The job holder will bring his professional expertise and knowledge in all aspects of MV / LV Switchgear development activities, Key Accountabilities Material Selection: Evaluate and recommend appropriate materials based on functional requirements such as strength, durability, environmental impact, and cost Measure by Test results, Cost data Testing and Validation: Conduct or oversee material testing for compliance with various standards and specifications Measured by Number of tests, Validation reports Research & Development: Stay up to date on emerging materials and technologies and assess their potential usage for required applications Explore and evaluate alternate materials to achieve optimum solutions Measured by Number of new material, Patents, Cost / performance optimization Problem Solving: Analyze material failures or defects and recommend corrective actions or material alternatives Measured by Number of complaints, Analysis report Documentation: Develop and maintain technical documentation, material datasheets, and specifications Measured by Number of documents Supplier Evaluation: Work with purchase team to identify and qualify material suppliers; assess material quality and consistency Measured by Supplier qualification rate, Number of improvements Compliance: Ensure all selected materials comply with environmental, safety, and industry-specific regulations (e-g , REACH, RoHS, ASTM, ISO) Measured by Compliance report, NCR Job Context The position is responsible for material selection, material testing and validation, new material introduction, supplier evaluation for new/ specific materials, root cause analysis for material related failures Working as a key member of the team, this position is also expected to improve and optimize costs and expected quality of various materials, Implementation of alternative materials to improve performance, The position is also responsible for coordinating between engineering team, industrial team, purchasing team and cross functional team for required material testing, material specification preparation, material analysis to achieve the desired outcomes, Qualifications, Experience & Skills Minimum Qualifications and Knowledge: Bachelor of Engineering in Material Science /Technology with industry experience Minimum Experience: 8 to 12 years of experience Job-Specific Skills: Interpretation of material standards and associated testing, Strong knowledge of different material grades, properties and its application, Material testing and analysis, Material cost analysis, Manufacturing processes, Maintaining material database Behavioural Competencies: Positive attitude, Develop and maintain effective relationship with internal & external stakeholders, good communication skills, Team building Does this sound interestingWe would love to hear from you Our application process in quick and easy Apply today!
