Job Description

As a Manufacturing Engineer at Caterpillar Inc, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and improving processes and systems used in manufacturing. Your expertise will be pivotal in designing, developing, and implementing manufacturing systems and state-of-the-art machines. Working both independently and collaboratively, you will contribute towards creating a more efficient and cost-effective manufacturing process. Here is a breakdown of your responsibilities and qualifications: **Key Responsibilities:** - Function as a specialist in a specific technical phase of the manufacturing engineering function - Evaluate projects to define desired results and determine logical approaches - Prepare feasibility studies and submit recommendations accordingly - Provide engineering consultation on manufacturing processes, tooling requirements, and cost/delivery analysis - Develop and implement cost reduction programs consistent with Lean Manufacturing principles - Plan factory layouts for effective space utilization - Engage in creative problem-solving to address operational issues and improve efficiency - Manage projects to ensure efficient and cost-effective systems and processes - Coordinate the purchase and application of machine tools and related equipment to increase efficiency - Develop new production methods using lean engineering fundamentals **Qualifications Required:** - Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering - 6 to 10 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, including NPI experience - Experience in Tool Design, designing Jigs & Fixtures, Gauges, etc. - Proficiency in CREO and AutoCAD - Proven leadership skills with excellent written and verbal communication abilities - Proficient in data collection, analysis, root cause analysis, and use of metrics - Experience with SAP ERP software and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) is a plus - Advanced Microsoft Office Skills, Teamcenter & Virtual Build skills - Knowledge of mechanical and electrical manufacturing processing, including assembly and testing - Experience in engine assembly processes is a plus **Desired Qualifications:** - Post Diploma in Tool Design - Experience in lean manufacturing, continuous improvement principles, and techniques - Thorough knowledge of manufacturing concepts with emphasis on engine assembly, engine testing, and paint processes - Experience in Internet of Things (IOT) and Industry 4.0 concepts is preferred Caterpillar Inc offers relocation for this position, and as an Equal Opportunity Employer, encourages diversity and inclusion.
