Job Overview: The Plant Head will provide strategic and operational leadership for the entire plant, ensuring efficient manufacturing operations, high product quality, cost control, and delivery performance. The role demands excellence in execution, operational discipline, and people leadership to drive productivity, profitability, and long-term sustainability of the plant. The Plant Head will be responsible for aligning plant performance with the companys strategic goals and customer expectations. Key Responsibilities: Lead the overall operations of the plant, ensuring production targets, quality standards, cost efficiency, and delivery timelines are consistently met. Translate organizational vision and strategy into actionable plant-level goals and initiatives to ensure sustainable performance and growth. Drive world-class manufacturing excellence through the deployment of Lean Manufacturing Systems, including TPM, TQM, Kaizen, 5S, SMED, and other continuous improvement methodologies. Ensure optimal utilization of resources man, machine, material, and methodto maximize output and operational efficiency. Oversee end-to-end plant functions including production, maintenance, quality, supply chain, engineering, safety, and HR. Implement robust systems for demand forecasting, capacity planning, and production scheduling to achieve On-Time In-Full (OTIF) delivery targets. Lead initiatives for modernizing plant layouts, automation, and adoption of advanced technologies to improve productivity and scalability. Establish and monitor plant-level KPIs (PQCDSM)Productivity, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety, and Morale—to drive data-based decision-making and continuous performance improvement. Maintain high standards of quality control and ensure reduction in internal rejections, customer complaints (PPM), and process wastage through First Time Right practices. Lead cost optimization efforts in areas such as inventory management, logistics, freight, energy usage, and material procurement to enhance plant profitability. Drive energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives, ensuring minimal environmental impact and regulatory compliance. Foster a safety-first culture, ensuring strict adherence to EHS guidelines and SOPs to create a safe working environment. Develop and nurture a high-performing team through structured talent development, capability building, and succession planning. Strengthen relationships with OEM customers, auditors, and key stakeholders to ensure customer satisfaction and maintain business continuity. Collaborate closely with central functions (Corporate, R&D, SCM, Sales) to ensure alignment with organizational objectives. Required Candidate Profile: Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (from a reputed institute preferred). Experience: 18+ years of experience in automotive or auto component manufacturing Hands-on experience in Forging, Casting, Machining, Heat Treatment, and Surface Treatment is essential. Key Skills & Competencies: Expertise in manufacturing systems, lean practices, and quality management tools (TPM, TQM, Kaizen, SMED, etc.). Strong operational and financial acumen with experience managing P&L, cost centers, and plant-level KPIs. Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage large workforces effectively. Strong stakeholder management and customer-facing skills, with the ability to represent the plant in audits, reviews, and commercial discussions.
