Raise the level of technical competence within the teams. Implement delivery and quality measurement processes Promote technical excellence in all our projects. Undertake technical reviews, peer reviews, checks and contribute to the design Provide continuous feedback to the Local Head of CRC on the effectiveness of the protocols and processes in place with a view to continuous improvement Develop positive professional relationship with the WSP ZA Team, communicating openly about project progress Supervise, coordinate and support other project Engineers and CAD Technicians Ensure that Health Safety is embedded into all work practices in line with company policies Ensure statutory and regulatory requirements are met within the design Participate in Project meetings, team meetings, disseminate information within the team, and communicate with other teams in WSP. Identify and act on, or refer, potential risk issues and follow in full the company commercial and contracting processes Manage delegated tasks to ensure that deadlines are met and flag resourcing concerns to team leader Identify and flag additional fees to the Local CRC Head of MEP Complete timesheet accurately ahead of weekly deadlines Key Competencies / Skills: Mandatory Skills Managing Fire Engineering services on projects of all scales Preparing fee proposals and project management for iCRC scope of works and also support on the ZA bids. Developing fire strategies for stations and associated ancillary buildings from concept stage to construction - code-compliant solutions and Fire Engineering designs. Working knowledge of data center projects is required. Knowledge and experience in all local fire safety codes is key to carry out code compliant fire safety designs. E.g. NBR, SANS 10400, ASIB, etc. Knowledge and experience in other international codes and standards to carry out rational fire designs is also required. E.g. BS 9999, NFPA 101, BS 7974, IFEG, etc. Fire Risk Assessments for Compliance with relevant Fire Safety Codes To undertake Fire Risk Assessments or Site Audits when necessary Liaising with ZA / internal design teams to develop fire engineering designs Taking a proactive approach in developing the projects and working with the design team Must have knowledge on software's like AutoCAD, MEP Revit other drafting software's. Develop fire safety plans for evacuation, way finding, firefighting equipment, fire rated construction, escape widths, etc. including the use of value-added methods such as computer-aided hydraulic design, CFD analysis, evacuation modelling etc. Design specification of fire safety systems such as fire alarm and detection, fire suppression systems and facilities for firefighter intervention (fire hydrant designs) Organizing Qualitative Design Reviews (QDRs) for major projects Travel to other WSP ZA-based offices, and visit clients and site offices when required on an occasional basis.
