Required Skills and Qualifications

Strong programming skills in
COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, and IMS
Familiarity with
DevOps tools
such as Jenkins and Git is advantageous
Knowledge of
Agile methodologies
like SCRUM and experience with both
waterfall and Agile frameworks
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related fields
Certifications such as
SAS, ITIL, CISSP, or LOMA280/290
may be preferred depending on the organization

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and implement applications on IBM z/OS mainframe platforms using languages like
COBOL, PL/I, and JCL
Develop and maintain
online transaction processing (OLTP) applications
using
CICS
and interact with
DB2 databases
, including SQL query optimization and data integrity management
Create, modify, and optimize
Job Control Language (JCL) scripts
for batch processing, data transfers, and system utilities torchora.com.
Execute the full
Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
, including requirements gathering, system design, coding, testing, deployment, and post-implementation support
Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, perform performance tuning, and implement preventative measures to enhance system stability
Collaborate with system analysts, project managers, and other IT professionals to translate business requirements into technical specifications
Document code, system designs, and provide technical support or training to end users
Participate in
legacy system modernization
, including migration to newer platforms or integration with modern technologies
