The Senior Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the moulding operations, implementing Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) strategies, ensuring production quality, managing a team of technicians, and optimizing processes for efficiency and productivity. Position Title: Senior Engineer – Sinto Moulding Line (TPM Concept) Location: At the Plant near Pollachi Reports To: Foundry Manager /Plant Head Job Purpose: To lead and manage the Sinto Moulding Line operations, ensuring optimal productivity, quality, safety, and implementation of TPM methodologies for continuous improvement and equipment efficiency. Qualifications and Experience Levels: Education: Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical / Metallurgy / Production Engineering. Experience: 6–10 years of experience in a foundry, preferably in a Sinto moulding line; minimum 2 years in a leadership role. Certifications: TPM/Lean Manufacturing certification is an advantage. Key Responsibilities: 1. Production Management Lead daily operations of the Sinto moulding line to meet production targets. Monitor cycle times, production efficiency, and material usage. Ensure timely availability of raw materials, patterns, and consumables. 2. TPM Implementation Drive TPM pillars (especially Autonomous Maintenance, Planned Maintenance, Quality Maintenance, and Focused Improvement) on the moulding line. Implement and monitor OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness). Conduct daily Gemba walks and Kaizen activities to identify and eliminate waste. 3. Team Leadership Supervise and train shift supervisors, operators, and technicians. Conduct skill matrix evaluations and organize training for skill enhancement. Promote a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. 4. Quality Assurance Coordinate with the QA team to ensure product quality meets internal and customer specifications. Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for defects. Monitor rework and rejection rates, implementing actions for reduction. 5. Maintenance Coordination Plan and coordinate with the maintenance team for preventive and breakdown maintenance. Support 5S and visual management in the moulding area. 6. Safety & Compliance Ensure strict adherence to EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) standards. Conduct regular safety audits and promote a zero-incident culture. 7. Reporting & Analysis Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production and downtime reports. Analyse downtime, quality loss, and suggest improvement measures. Skills and Attributes: In-depth knowledge of Sinto moulding technology and sand systems. Strong understanding of TPM principles. Leadership, team management, and conflict resolution. Problem-solving with exposure to root cause tools like 5 Whys, Fishbone, etc. Knowledge of SAP or similar ERP systems. Knowledge and application of Six sigma methodology in process optimisation, defect elimination. Conducting daily, weekly and monthly rejection review meeting and circulating minutes to all concern Responsible for implementing corrective actions for foundry related defects in daily production by proactive approach. Sand and other parameters trend monitoring and correlating with rejections trend. Operating the production with past lowest rejection conditions. Applying DMAIC approach to reduce rejections drastically in chronical problems, and for process optimization. Effective participation in all trials, improvement taken place. Cascading all the corrective actions taken in each and every parts to shop floor personnel. Audit of process parameters during production against requirements and correlating with rejections Coordinating with relevant department for proper updation of documents related to rejection reduction Leading rejection reduction projects with relevant department Developing QCC teams for similar rejection reduction projects and problem solving Stopping the production if deviations from requirements noticed.
