Additionally, you must possess experience in Vericut NC simulation & error rectification. It would be beneficial if you also have experience in NC Setup planning & Fixture design. Position Title: Machine Shop Head Location: Boisar Department: Manufacturing/Production Reports To: Plant Head / Cluster Head Qualifications Education: Bachelors Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related field. Experience: Minimum 18-25 years in machining operations, with at least 3 years in a leadership role in a flange or similar manufacturing setup. Technical Expertise: Hands-on experience in CNC turning, VMC, HMC, drilling, and conventional machining. Knowledge of CAD/CAM software and toolpath optimization is preferred. Certifications: Knowledge of industry standards such as ISO, ASME, EN, or Six Sigma certification is an added advantage. Job Summary: The Machine Shop Head is responsible for overseeing all machining operations in the flange manufacturing unit, ensuring optimal productivity, quality, and efficiency. This role involves managing a team of machinists, optimizing CNC and conventional machining processes, ensuring adherence to quality standards, and maintaining equipment. The incumbent will drive continuous improvement initiatives and cost optimization while ensuring compliance with safety and operational protocols. Key Responsibilities: 1. Production Management Plan, coordinate, and supervise daily machining operations to meet production targets. Ensure optimum utilization of manpower, machines, and material resources. Develop and implement production schedules based on customer requirements and business forecasts. Monitor machine shop KPIs such as cycle time, rejection rates, OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), and downtime. 2. Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement Implement Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies. Identify and eliminate bottlenecks to improve efficiency and reduce costs. Optimize CNC programming and tooling selection for better productivity. Implement automation and digitalization initiatives to enhance machine shop performance. 3. Quality Assurance & Compliance Ensure strict adherence to quality standards (ISO, ASME, EN, or other relevant certifications). Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to reduce rework and scrap rates. Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for defects and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). 4. Maintenance & Equipment Management Ensure regular preventive maintenance of CNC machines, lathes, drilling machines, and other shop floor equipment. Coordinate with the maintenance team for breakdown repairs to minimize downtime. Evaluate new machinery and technology upgrades to enhance productivity. 5. Manpower Management & Training Lead, mentor, and train a team of machinists, operators, and supervisors. Conduct skill development programs to enhance the technical competency of the workforce. Ensure a culture of teamwork, discipline, and performance-driven work ethics. 6. Cost Control & Inventory Management Control manufacturing costs by optimizing raw material input usage, minimizing rework, and reducing wastage. Ensure proper inventory management of tools, fixtures, and consumables. Collaborate with the procurement team to evaluate and source cost-effective materials and tooling. 7. Safety & Compliance Ensure a safe working environment by enforcing EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) guidelines. Conduct regular safety drills, risk assessments, and compliance audits.
