Description
As a Machine Operator in our steel fabrication department, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating various types of industrial equipment to support our steel fabrication processes. Your role will include working with machines such as press brakes, lasers, plasma and oxy-fuel cutters, saws, machining centers, and other shop equipment. You will operate assigned machines, perform machine setups, review work instructions, and maintain quality standards while supporting different areas of production as needed. It will be crucial for you to read and interpret blueprints and work instructions accurately, measure and inspect parts for accuracy and quality, and perform basic machine maintenance to ensure smooth operations. To qualify for this position, we prefer candidates with a high school diploma or GED and a minimum of 2 years of machine operation experience in a manufacturing setting. Experience in steel fabrication is a plus. You should have experience operating industrial machinery in a manufacturing environment, the ability to read blueprints and follow instructions, and familiarity with using measuring tools such as calipers, tape measures, and micrometers. A basic understanding of machine programming for CNC-controlled equipment is also desired. Additionally, you should be comfortable working in a shop environment with exposure to heat, noise, and heavy materials, willing to cross-train, and support different equipment or production lines. Your competencies should include safety awareness, attention to detail, consistency in task completion, understanding of machine operations, working well with others, and taking initiative to help in other areas when necessary. You may be required to travel between facilities as needed and must be able to meet the physical requirements of the job, such as standing, walking, lifting up to 50 lbs. independently, and working in varying environmental conditions. In our work environment, you will be exposed to moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, fumes, machine vibration, noisy conditions, high temperatures, and occasional restricted space work areas.
