As an apprentice in the formal skilled trades training program at Cummins Inc., you will have the opportunity to assist site Mechanical skilled trades in developing mechanical skills within a manufacturing environment. Your role will involve learning and applying safety protocols while working with electricity and industrial equipment under direct guidance. **Key Responsibilities:** - Maintenance & Technical Operations - Handle breakdown and preventive maintenance of General Purpose and Special Purpose Machines. - Perform root cause analysis of breakdowns using daily logs. - Troubleshoot basic electrical and electronic issues. - Maintain and plan critical spare parts inventory. - Coordinate with suppliers for timely service completion. - Lead critical maintenance projects within stipulated timelines. - Safety & Compliance - Conduct Job Safety Assessments including LOTO and other safe work practices. - Ensure a safe working environment and compliance with HSE standards. - Use appropriate personal protective equipment and promote a safety culture. - Quality & Process Improvement - Support equipment uptime and failure analysis. - Provide feedback for preventive maintenance systems. - Participate in TPM and continuous improvement activities. - Perform quality inspections and follow process documentation. - Training & Development - Attend required classes and complete on-the-job training hours. - Learn and apply high standards of workmanship. - Communicate effectively with team members and cross-functional stakeholders. **Qualifications:** - High school diploma or equivalent. - Enrollment in or completion of a formal skilled trades training program. - This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations. **Core Competencies:** - Collaborates - Builds partnerships and works collaboratively. - Communicates Effectively - Delivers clear, audience-specific communication. - Customer Focus - Delivers customer-centric solutions. - Nimble Learning - Learns through experimentation and feedback. - Self-Development - Seeks growth through formal and informal channels. - Values Differences - Appreciates diverse perspectives and cultures. **Skills:** *Technical Skills:* - Strong fundamentals in hydraulics, pneumatics, and machine mechanics. - Ability to read and interpret machine drawings. - Basic knowledge of electrical safety and electronics troubleshooting. - Familiarity with spare parts planning and inventory management. *Soft Skills:* - Effective communication and collaboration across teams. - Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking. - Ability to multitask and prioritize vendor coordination. - Team player with a proactive approach to safety and quality. *Digital Proficiency:* - Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. *Experience:* - Minimal or no prior work experience required for apprentice-level roles. - Hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance is preferred for technician-level roles.
