Lead Engineer Software & Control Systems Location: Chennai Job Type: Full-Time | On-site Job Category: Engineering Salary Range: 20 22 LPA Experience: 10+ Years Job Summary We are seeking a Lead Control Systems Engineer with a strong foundation in control theory and embedded software development . In this role, you will architect, design, and implement real-time control systems for high-performance industrial or mechatronic systems such as robotics, motion platforms, or power electronics . You will collaborate cross-functionally with hardware, firmware, and embedded software teams to develop reliable, scalable, and optimized control solutions across the full development lifecycle from modeling and simulation to real-world deployment. Key Responsibilities Control Systems Design & Development Design, develop, and tune closed-loop control algorithms (PID, LQR, state-space, adaptive, etc.) for embedded and real-time platforms. Simulate and validate control models using MATLAB/Simulink , Control System Toolbox , or similar tools. Perform system identification , parameter estimation, and modeling of physical systems. Embedded & High-Level Software Implementation Develop control software in C/C++ , Python , or MATLAB/Simulink for deployment on microcontrollers , DSPs , or embedded Linux systems . Collaborate with firmware and hardware teams to implement control logic on target platforms. Optimize for latency , determinism , and robustness in real-time environments. System Integration & Testing Integrate software with sensors , actuators , and real-time data acquisition systems . Lead HIL simulation , code reviews , test strategy development , and system debugging . Document control algorithms, software interfaces, tuning methodologies, and validation processes. Required Qualifications Bachelors / Masters degree in Control Systems , Electrical Engineering , Mechatronics , or related field. 10+ years of experience in control systems engineering for real-time or embedded applications. Strong grasp of control theory : PID, LQR, Kalman Filters, state-space control, observers. Proficiency in: Programming : C/C++, Python Modeling & Simulation : MATLAB, Simulink Hardware Platforms : ARM Cortex-M/R, DSPs, embedded Linux Real-time systems : RTOS (e.g., FreeRTOS, Zephyr), bare-metal Preferred Qualifications Experience in Model-Based Design (MBD) and auto-code generation using Simulink. Familiarity with sensor fusion , signal processing , and estimation techniques . Background in robotics , automotive control systems , or power electronics . Knowledge of real-time protocols: CAN , SPI , I2C , UART . Exposure to CI/CD pipelines , Git , JIRA , Confluence . Understanding of functional safety or standards such as ISO 26262 , DO-178C (a plus). Tools & Technologies MATLAB / Simulink / Control System Toolbox Embedded C/C++ , Python RTOS Platforms : FreeRTOS, Zephyr, Bare-metal Version Control : Git Project & Documentation : JIRA, Confluence Simulation & HIL Testing Platforms
