About The Role

As a Staff Engineer - Backend, you will play a key role in defining and driving the technical direction of our backend systems.You'll architect scalable, secure, and high-performance solutions to solve complex business problems while mentoring engineers across teams.You'll collaborate cross-functionally to align technology initiatives with business goals and ensure engineering excellence across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Execution :

• Act as a subject matter expert in one or more backend technologies, providing technical guidance and mentorship across teams.
• Define, architect, and implement robust, maintainable backend systems for large-scale web applications.
• Manage and forecast project timelines, risks, and dependencies to ensure smooth delivery.
• Drive best practices for software design, testing, deployment, and documentation.
• Conduct high-level design and code reviews to uphold engineering quality and scalability standards.
• Evaluate and introduce new technologies or frameworks to improve backend efficiency and reliability.
  

Collaboration & Leadership

• Lead cross-functional and cross-team collaboration to solve ambiguous and complex engineering challenges.
• Mentor and coach engineers at all levels, fostering growth and leadership within the team.
• Influence and contribute to technical strategy and long-term architectural decisions.
• Participate in and help shape the engineering hiring process, ensuring alignment with company standards.
• Build strong relationships with non-adjacent teams to align efforts and achieve strategic objectives.
  

Preferred Skills & Experience

• 8+ years of experience in backend engineering, with demonstrated expertise in designing distributed systems or large-scale web architectures.
• Strong proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Go, Node.js, Scala, or Java.
• Deep understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and experience designing efficient data models.
• Hands-on experience with NoSQL technologies (Redis, DynamoDB, Elasticsearch, Memcached).
• Strong knowledge of scalable web architecture, microservices, and API design.
• Excellent debugging, optimization, and performance-tuning skills.
• Proven ability to balance hands-on technical work with long-term architectural thinking.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
