Role Description

This is a full-time remote role for an Alternative Text Writer with a minimum of 2 years of experience. The role involves creating high-quality alternative text for images to ensure accessibility, collaborating with teams to meet content specifications, and reviewing work for clarity and accuracy. The Alternative Text Writer will also maintain awareness of accessibility guidelines and standards to ensure compliance across all deliverables.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in writing and editing alternative text with attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong knowledge of accessibility guidelines and standards such as WCAG and Section 508 compliance
• Ability to conduct thorough research to enhance image/context interpretation and enhance text descriptions
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for collaboration with teams
• Competency in digital publishing tools, including familiarity with EPUB creation and related software
• Self-motivation to meet deadlines and work independently in a remote setup
• Bachelor's degree in English, Communication, Publishing, or related field preferred
• Optional: Any certifications related to accessibility or prior experience in accessibility-focused roles
