Role & responsibilities Interpretation and Analysis : Thoroughly review and interpret architectural and structural engineering drawings, specifications, and design intent for metal components such as facades, canopies, railings, stairs, decorative elements, furniture and structural steel. Identify potential design conflicts, discrepancies, or missing information and proactively raise Requests for Information (RFIs) to architects, engineers, and project managers. Detailed Drawing Creation (Shop & Erection Drawings) : Create accurate and comprehensive 2D and 3D models and drawings of individual metal components and assemblies using industry-standard detailing software. Generate shop drawings that include all necessary dimensions, material specifications, welding details, bolt holes, and fabrication instructions for each piece. Develop erection drawings that illustrate the precise location, orientation, and connection methods for assembling fabricated components on-site, including sequencing and field work instructions. Incorporate details for connections, joints, and interfaces with other building materials (e.g., glass, concrete, masonry) to ensure seamless integration. Material Take-Offs and Bill of Materials (BOM): Prepare accurate Bills of Materials (BOM) for all required raw materials, hardware, and fasteners. Generate material take-offs to facilitate procurement and cost estimation. Compliance and Standards : Ensure all detailing work adheres to relevant industry standards and project-specific requirements. Perform quality checks on drawings to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to design specifications. Collaboration and Coordination : Collaborate closely with architects, structural engineers, project managers, fabricators, and erectors throughout the project lifecycle. Participate in design review meetings and provide technical input to optimize the design for fabrication and constructability. Communicate effectively to resolve technical issues, design conflicts, and schedule challenges. Software and Technology Utilization : Proficiently use advanced Rhino/SolidWorks/Tekla/AutoCad/SketchUp software for modeling and detailing. Documentation and Record Keeping : Maintain proper documentation of all drawings, revisions, RFIs, and approvals.
