Job Description

As a highly skilled Linux Subject Matter Expert (SME), you will be responsible for managing and optimizing Linux-based systems such as Ubuntu, SUSE, and Red Hat, along with a proficient command of AWS services. Your role will involve designing, implementing, and supporting secure and scalable Linux environments, both on-premises and in the cloud. You will be expected to manage and maintain Linux systems across different distributions, including Ubuntu, SUSE, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL). Additionally, deploying, configuring, and monitoring AWS cloud infrastructure while adhering to best practices for security, scalability, and performance will be crucial aspects of your responsibilities. Automation of routine system administration tasks using scripting languages like Bash, Python, etc., will be essential. Ensuring high availability of Linux servers through the implementation of clustering, failover, and backup solutions is another key responsibility. Monitoring system performance, identifying bottlenecks, and optimizing Linux environments will also be part of your role. Managing user authentication, permissions, and security policies on Linux servers and designing and deploying Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using tools like Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or similar will be vital tasks. Collaborating with development and DevOps teams to support CI/CD pipelines and containerized applications is also expected. Your expertise in operating systems, particularly in Linux distributions like Ubuntu, SUSE, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), along with hands-on experience in AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, CloudWatch, IAM, and Lambda will be required. Advanced scripting skills in Bash, Python, or Perl for automation and task management are essential. A strong understanding of networking protocols, load balancers, firewalls, and VPNs, along with expertise in tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef for configuration management, is necessary. Experience with monitoring solutions like Prometheus, Nagios, or AWS CloudWatch, and in-depth knowledge of system hardening, patch management, and encryption best practices are crucial. Practical experience with Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or other Infrastructure as Code tools will also be beneficial. Furthermore, preparing and maintaining detailed technical documentation, runbooks, and SOPs will be part of your routine tasks in this role.,
