What we're looking for We are seeking a diligent and innovative Deputy Manager / Assistant Manager - Layout Design to lead the planning and development of processing line layouts for various steel applications. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in integrating equipment and systems within specific building constraints, ensuring high quality, timely delivery, and cost-effective solutions. Job Purpose: Plan and deliver processing line layouts (continuous galvanizing, continuous annealing, continuous color coating, cold rolling mill) that enable operational excellence and support the organization's growth objectives. Key Result Areas: Development of line layout with integration of equipment, systems, bought-outs, etc., considering building dimensions and column locations. Development of basic civil layout of the line as per project requirement. Meeting targets around Quality, Delivery, and Cost . Innovation mindset to bring optimization. Key Responsibilities: Understand contract requirements, Line philosophy, preliminary approved line layout by the Customer, and Building and Column details as shared by the client. Work with the Team Lead Engineer to select the correct GA (General Arrangement) of equipment and integrate it with the line layout under stated constraints. Ensure the line layout provides proper location of equipment at various levels (Cellar, Zero), sufficient space for maintenance and accessibility, location for electrical and automation rooms, placement of various systems & bought-outs, crane movements, and other storage areas. Prepare basic civil layout, excavation drawings, load data, and foundation bolt schedules. Based on Customer inputs, update the line layout & civil layout with required changes. Develop assignments for technological structures for sharing with the structural design house. Be proactive in the continuous improvement and REX (return on experience) processes . Work in a team with group leaders, Engineers, and Designers within Engineering and other functions. Create and check engineering related documents as per the Quality Management System (QMS) and Design Approval Matrix. Keep abreast of new technologies and imbibe them in line layout creation. Communicate with customers and participate in technical discussions with customers. Required Skills & Qualifications: BE/B.TECH or Diploma in Mechanical / Production Engineering from a reputed college. Experience: 6 to 12 years of experience in Line Layout & civil layout Creation for steel processing lines, Industrial plants. Proficiency in line layout generation of equipment at different levels, in different views. Experience in layout generation for steel processing lines, including mechanical equipment, piping, hydraulic/pneumatic systems under constrained boundary conditions related to space availability and building columns. Proficiency in AutoCAD Mechanical, Navisworks . Knowledge of Inventor and Plant 3D . Ability to read and interpret mechanical engineering drawings is a must. Ability to bring innovation in the design process to improve quality and delivery. Good interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills. Ability to work in an Agile environment in a collaborative way. Candidate worked in a multinational company will be an added advantage.
