Librarian

Job Summary:

The Librarian is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the library, ensuring efficient organization, accessibility, and use of library resources. The role involves maintaining an updated collection of books and digital resources, supporting students and staff in research, and promoting a culture of reading and learning.

Key Responsibilities:

• Organize, classify, and catalog books, journals, and digital materials.
• Manage the issue and return of library resources through a proper record system.
• Assist students, teachers, and staff in locating and using information resources.
• Maintain an up-to-date database of library materials (physical and digital).
• Select and recommend new books, journals, and online resources as per curriculum needs.
• Conduct orientation sessions for students on how to use library resources effectively.
• Promote reading habits through book fairs, reading clubs, and literary events.
• Maintain discipline and a quiet learning environment in the library.
• Prepare monthly and annual library usage and stock reports.
• Ensure proper maintenance, labeling, and repair of damaged books and materials.
• Stay updated with new trends in library management and digital archiving systems.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Library Science (B.Lib / M.Lib).
• Prior experience as a Librarian or Library Assistant preferred.
• Proficiency in library management software (e.g., Koha, Libsys, etc.).
• Strong organizational and cataloguing skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of digital library systems and e-resources.
• Attention to detail and a passion for promoting reading and learning.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From ₹20,000.00 per month
