This role is essential in ensuring that consultant and contractor designs align with the owner’s technical standards, functional goals, and long-term operational requirements. You will act as a technical reviewer, evaluating design packages and providing feedback that enhances system safety, code compliance, constructability, and energy efficiency Key Responsibilities: Review mechanical system designs including HVAC, ventilation, chilled water, ductwork, piping, drainage, and domestic water systems. Assess design adequacy, code compliance, spatial coordination, and constructability. Flag issues related to equipment placement, access, serviceability, and long-term maintenance. Evaluate energy efficiency measures and system optimization opportunities. Collaborate with electrical and architectural disciplines for integrated MEP reviews. Document technical comments and actively support resolution with project stakeholders. Promote clarity in design intent, system selection, and compliance with owner standards. Participate in technical workshops, design audits, and peer reviews. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (Master’s preferred). Minimum 5 years of experience in HVAC and plumbing system design, commissioning, or design review. Sound knowledge of applicable codes (ASHRAE, IPC, IMC, NFPA, local regulations). Proficient in reviewing layouts, equipment schedules, and system schematics. Hands-on experience with software like AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and HVAC sizing tools. Ability to interpret technical drawings and spot coordination or design issues quickly. Preferred: Experience in commercial, retail, or mixed-use development projects. Familiarity with green building practices (LEED, IGBC).
