1. Job Summary

The Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching,

conducting practical sessions, mentoring students, supporting academic administration, and

contributing to the overall development of the Polytechnic. The candidate should have strong

subject knowledge, effective communication skills, and a commitment to student-centric

learning.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Teaching & Learning

• Deliver theory and practical classes as per the Polytechnic syllabus.
• Prepare lesson plans, teaching materials, laboratory manuals, and study

resources.

• Use innovative teaching methodologies, including ICT tools, demonstrations, and

real-time industry examples.

• Conduct tutorials, remedial classes, and doubt-clearing sessions.
• Ensure timely completion of the syllabus with quality and depth.

B. Laboratory Management

• Supervise and conduct Mechanical Engineering labs (e.g., FM, TOM, SOM, WS, IC

Engines, RAC, etc.).

• Maintain lab equipment, safety protocols, and stock records.
• Guide students in performing experiments and preparing lab files.

C. Student Support & Mentoring

• Mentor students on academics, professional skills, and discipline.
• Support students in industrial training, internships, and project work.
• Participate in student counselling, career guidance, and technical events.

D. Academic Administration

• Maintain attendance records, assessment reports, and exam-related

documentation.

• Assist in internal assessment, viva-voce, practical exams, and evaluation tasks.
• Participate in departmental meetings, academic audits, and accreditation work.

E. Professional Development & Institutional Contribution

• Engage in workshops, FDPs, seminars, and continuous upskilling.
• Contribute to curriculum improvement and quality enhancement processes.
• Support departmental initiatives like admissions, discipline committees,

industrial visits, NSS/NCC activities, etc.

3. Required Qualifications

• Diploma level teaching:

B.Tech / B.E. in Mechanical Engineering with First Class.

• Desirable:

M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering / relevant specialization.

• Strong academic background and subject expertise.

4. Desired Skills

• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Practical exposure to mechanical engineering labs and equipment.
• Ability to handle students with patience, discipline, and motivation.
• Knowledge of MS Office, AutoCAD, basic simulation tools, and ICT teaching tools.
• Teamwork, punctuality, and professional ethics.
