1. Role Overview

The Lecturer in Optometry will be responsible for teaching, training, and mentoring students in Optometry programs. The role includes academic delivery, clinical supervision, student assessment, research participation, and supporting departmental activities to ensure quality education and professional excellence.

2. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Academic Responsibilities

  • Deliver theory and practical classes as per the Optometry curriculum.
  • Prepare lesson plans, teaching materials, and lab demonstrations.
  • Conduct internal assessments, viva voce, assignments, and examinations.
  • Ensure completion of syllabus within the prescribed academic calendar.
  • Guide students in seminars, presentations, and case discussions.

B. Clinical & Practical Training

  • Supervise students during clinical postings and practical sessions.
  • Train students in refraction techniques, contact lens fitting, low vision assessment, and other optometric procedures.
  • Ensure safety protocols and maintenance of lab equipment.
  • Support outreach programs, eye camps, and hospital rotations.

C. Student Mentoring & Development

  • Provide academic and career guidance to students.
  • Monitor attendance, performance, and behavioural discipline.
  • Support student research projects, internships, and clinical case work.

D. Administrative Responsibilities

  • Maintain academic and clinical records as per institutional standards.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, NAAC/NABH documentation, and audits.
  • Assist in organizing workshops, conferences, and community eye care programs.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and quality enhancement.

3. Qualification & Experience Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree or master's in optometry from a recognized university.
  • Minimum 1–2 years of teaching or clinical experience.

Preferred:

  • Master’s Degree in Optometry (M.Optom).
  • Experience in teaching, research, or clinical practice in Optometry.
  • Knowledge of latest optometric equipment and clinical techniques.

4. Skills & Competencies

  • Strong subject knowledge and clinical expertise.
  • Excellent communication and teaching skills.
  • Ability to manage classroom and clinical environment professionally.
  • Student-friendly, supportive, and approachable attitude.
  • Proficiency in documentation and basic computer skills.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹35,000.00 per month
