Job Purpose: To lead and manage quality assurance activities in the Iron Making Zone, focusing on raw material quality, laboratory instrumentation, process improvement, and team safety, ensuring consistent product quality and operational excellence. Key Responsibilities: 1. Raw Material & Process Quality Control Monitor and evaluate the quality of raw materials including iron ore, coke, and sinter. Ensure compliance with specifications and standards for hot metal production. Collaborate with procurement and operations to address quality deviations. 2. Laboratory & Instrumentation Expertise Oversee the operation and maintenance of lab instruments such as: XRF (X-ray fluorescence) for elemental analysis. LECO analyzers for carbon, sulfur, and oxygen determination. RI & RDI (Reduction Index & Reducibility Index) for sinter/coke evaluation. CSR & CRI (Coke Strength after Reaction & Coke Reactivity Index) for coke performance. Ensure calibration, accuracy, and reliability of lab results. 3. Quality System Management Implement and maintain ISO and other quality management systems. Lead internal audits, documentation, and compliance initiatives. Drive standardization and best practices across the zone. 4. Data Analysis & Continuous Improvement Analyze process and quality data to identify trends and root causes. Lead Six Sigma, Kaizen, or other CI projects to improve yield and reduce defects. Prepare dashboards and reports for senior management. 5. Team Leadership & Safety Manage and mentor a team of quality engineers and lab technicians. Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and performance. Conduct safety audits and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
