Job Description

  • Working with Patterns and Designs:Following patterns, blueprints, or designs to cut and assemble leather pieces.
  • Cutting and Preparing Leather:Using various tools and techniques to cut, shape, and prepare leather for different stages of production.
  • Joining Leather Pieces:Assembling leather items by hand stitching, machine stitching, using rivets, adhesives, or other methods.
  • Finishing Leather Products:Applying finishes, dyes, stains, waxes, polishes, or other treatments to enhance the appearance and durability of the leather.
  • Repairing and Restoring:Repairing or restoring damaged or worn leather items to meet quality standards.
  • Operating Machinery:Utilizing sewing machines, cutting machines, and other specialized equipment.
  • Quality Control:Inspecting finished products for defects, ensuring adherence to quality standards, and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Maintaining Equipment and Tools:Ensuring tools and machinery are in good working order, safe to use, and properly maintained.
  • Collaboration and Communication:Working effectively with designers, other team members, and potentially customers.
  • Following Safety Protocols:Adhering to safety regulations and guidelines when working with leather and machinery.

  • Leather Worker:A general term for individuals who craft, repair, and restore leather goods.
  • Leather Goods Production Manager:Oversees the entire production process, managing teams, resources, and ensuring quality and efficiency.
  • Leather Production Planner:Develops and manages production plans, ensuring materials and staff are available, and coordinating with other departments.
  • Leather Craftworker:Specializes in the creation of leather items, often with a focus on design and craftsmanship.
  • Leather Finishing Operator:Focuses on the final stages of leather production, applying finishes and treatments to achieve desired results.
  • Leather Goods Maintenance Technician:Repairs and maintains leather goods, diagnosing and fixing defects or damage.
  • Leather Technologist:May be involved in the technical aspects of leather production, including leather selection, testing, and quality control.
