The position of Fabrication Manager is available at our Electric Vehicle Manufacturing plant located in Domjur, Howrah, West Bengal. As a Fabrication Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all fabrication activities related to electric three-wheeler production at our facility. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 10-20 years of experience in the fabrication industry, preferably within the automotive sector. Your primary role will involve leading and supervising the fabrication shop, which includes the fabrication of frames, chassis, and cabins for electric three-wheelers. It will be essential to ensure timely production while maintaining high-quality standards based on design specifications. You will also be responsible for overseeing MIG welding operations, welding jigs, fixtures, and ensuring welder skill and compliance with standard operating procedures. Furthermore, you will be required to review and enhance fabrication processes to improve efficiency, reduce rework, and increase throughput. Developing and implementing fixture solutions and simple jigs for manual and semi-automated welding stations will also be part of your responsibilities. Collaboration with Design, Quality, and Assembly teams to ensure seamless integration of fabricated components is crucial. Monitoring material usage, reducing wastage, and managing shop-floor inventory in coordination with stores and procurement departments will be expected. Safety compliance with statutory regulations and Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) norms in fabrication operations is imperative. Providing training and technical support to welders and fabrication operators is also a key aspect of this role. The ideal candidate should hold a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification. A strong background in fabrication management within the automotive or vehicle industry is essential, along with expertise in MIG welding, fabrication fixtures, sheet metal, and mild steel structures. Knowledge of automobile chassis, cabin structures, body welding, and related tolerance management is desired. Familiarity with production planning tools, lean manufacturing principles, and basic quality control methods is advantageous. Proficiency in AutoCAD/SolidWorks and the interpretation of welding symbols is preferred. Effective leadership, communication, and team management skills are necessary to excel in this role.
