Lead Software / Platform Engineer I

As an experienced Data Modeler/Solution Designer at MetLife, your main responsibility will be to design and build data models and oversee the implementation of data pipelines on the Snowflake data platform (DAX). You will collaborate with Snowflake, Erwin, and Matillion to develop scalable and efficient data pipelines that align with our business requirements. A strong understanding of data modeling principles and familiarity with DevOps models and CI/CD workflows is crucial for this role. **Key Responsibilities:** - Develop and deliver Conceptual/Logical/Physical data models - Develop data mappings and transformation rules document - Develop business glossaries (metadata) and relevant data model documentation (data dictionaries) for data and analytics solutions - Work with business SMEs and data stewards to align data models with business processes - Ensure data architecture and data management principles are followed during the development of new data models - Establish data modeling standards and naming conventions - Integrate data from various source systems into Snowflake - Conduct workshops with business SMEs and data stewards to understand business processes - Perform data profiling and analysis for data optimization - Collaborate with Data Engineers and Tech BA for version control and deployment best practices - Ensure compliance with data governance and security practices **Qualifications:** - Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent with demonstrated experience in data model and design for data and analytics projects - Core SnowPro Certificate is highly desired **Experience & Skills:** - 8+ years of experience as a Data Engineer/Data Modeler in a cloud-based environment - Strong experience with data modeling, data warehouse, and data integration - Deep understanding of Snowflake, including performance optimization and best practices - Strong SQL skills are mandatory - Familiarity with DevOps workflows, CI/CD environments, version control, and automated deployments - Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot pipeline issues effectively - Knowledge of data management/governance principles and their importance in dealing with data risk - Life Insurance or Banking experience is preferred At MetLife, our purpose is to help our colleagues, customers, communities, and the world create a more confident future.
