Lead Scala Developer

As part of our team at the Maps division, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of tools that analyze, visualize, process, manage, and curate data on a large scale. Our focus is on combining various signals like data analytics, community engagement, and user feedback to enhance the Maps Platform. Your responsibilities may include tasks such as analyzing extensive data sets to identify map errors, devising and executing sophisticated algorithms to address these issues, collaborating with a team of engineers and analysts to review solutions, and integrating the final resolution into the data processing pipeline. We are seeking engineers who can actively participate in constructing a vast, scalable, distributed system that powers the maps data platform. Successful candidates will possess outstanding engineering skills, effective communication abilities, and a belief that feedback driven by data leads to the development of exceptional products. If you are interested in joining our team, here are the key requirements we are looking for in potential candidates: - Minimum of 7 years of experience in a software product development role, focusing on building modern and scalable big data applications. - Advanced expertise in Scala functional programming, with an intermediate to advanced level proficiency being a prerequisite. - Proficiency in implementing data structures and algorithms in Scala. - Proficiency in Hadoop technologies related to handling big data processing, such as Spark. - Experience in developing RESTful web services using Scala, Python, or similar programming languages.
