Lead I - Software Engineering - Python + SQL (ESRI)

Role Overview: As a Senior Data Engineer specializing in Python, your primary responsibility will be to design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines using Python and SQL. You will focus on efficient data transformation, enrichment, and integration, ensuring the reliability and scalability of large-scale datasets within cloud-based data warehouses like Snowflake. Additionally, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver clean, well-structured data for analytics and operational applications. Your role will also involve performance tuning of databases and pipelines to optimize query performance and data throughput, along with implementing data validation and monitoring mechanisms to ensure data quality and accuracy. Key Responsibilities: - Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines using Python and SQL for efficient data transformation, enrichment, and integration. - Integrate spatial datasets by working with ESRI data sources to support geospatial analytics within the enterprise data platform. - Lead the ingestion, transformation, and curation of large-scale datasets into cloud-based data warehouses like Snowflake. - Collaborate cross-functionally with data analysts, GIS specialists, and data architects to deliver well-structured data for analytics and operational applications. - Conduct performance tuning of databases and pipelines to optimize query performance and data throughput. - Ensure data quality, consistency, and accuracy by implementing robust data validation and monitoring mechanisms. - Document technical processes, develop reusable data engineering components, and contribute to evolving best practices and internal standards. Qualifications Required: - Minimum 5 years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or backend data development roles. - Advanced proficiency in Python for data manipulation, automation, and integration tasks. - Strong expertise in Snowflake or other cloud data warehouses like PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or similar SQL-based platforms. - Hands-on experience with ESRI geospatial platforms (ArcGIS, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS REST APIs) and working with spatial data formats like shapefiles. - Deep understanding of relational databases, data modeling principles, and query performance optimization. - Proven experience designing and managing scalable ETL pipelines and data architectures. - Solid knowledge of data hygiene practices and pipeline reliability techniques.
