Role & responsibilities A Packing Head in the nutraceutical industry oversees all packaging operations, ensuring that products are packed efficiently and in compliance with strict quality and regulatory standards . The role involves strategic planning, team leadership, and process optimization to meet production targets and maintain product integrity. Core responsibilities Operational management: Lead and supervise the packaging department's daily activities, including planning and executing packing schedules to meet production demands. Quality and compliance: Enforce and uphold Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), FDA, and other relevant regulatory requirements. Review and approve batch packing records, conduct line clearances, and perform in-process checks. Team leadership: Manage, train, and develop the packaging team to ensure adherence to safety protocols, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and quality standards. Process improvement: Implement continuous improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing techniques to increase efficiency, optimize productivity, and reduce waste and costs. Material and equipment management: Coordinate with procurement and inventory teams to ensure the timely availability of all packaging materials. Oversee the maintenance and proper functioning of packaging equipment. Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with production, quality assurance, logistics, and supply chain teams to ensure a smooth and efficient workflow. Documentation and reporting: Maintain accurate records of all packaging operations and documentation for audits. Report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as efficiency, yield, and downtime. Key qualifications Education: A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline. Experience: Proven, hands-on experience in a packaging or production management role within a regulated industry, with a strong preference for the nutraceuticals or pharmaceuticals sectors. Technical knowledge: In-depth understanding of packaging materials, machinery, processes, and relevant regulatory requirements like cGMP. Leadership skills: Strong leadership, team management, problem-solving, and communication skills. Compliance expertise: Familiarity with track-and-trace systems, regulatory audits, and quality management systems.
