In this role, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing cloud financial operations on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) by collaborating with engineering, finance, and operations teams to monitor cloud spend, implement cost optimization strategies, and enhance financial visibility and accountability. Your main responsibilities will include owning and managing GCP cloud cost governance, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes. You will be tasked with building and maintaining dashboards and cost models to provide real-time insights into cloud usage and cost trends. Working closely with engineering and operations teams, you will implement cost optimization strategies such as rightsizing, scheduling, reservations, and committed use discounts. Your role will also involve analyzing spend data to identify anomalies, trends, and savings opportunities while driving FinOps best practices across business units and teams. To excel in this role, you should possess a Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field. You must have a strong understanding of GCP billing and cost management tools, pricing models, and services. Proficiency in data analysis, visualization tools (e.g., Looker, BigQuery, Power BI), and dashboard creation is essential. Familiarity with GCP resource hierarchy, labeling/tags, and usage metrics is required. Experience with cost allocation, budgeting, forecasting, and cloud optimization techniques is also necessary. Excellent analytical and communication skills are crucial as you will interact with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Preferred qualifications and skills for this role include GCP FinOps or cloud cost certifications (e.g., FinOps Certified Practitioner, Google Cloud Digital Leader). Experience with FinOps platforms like CloudHealth, Apptio, CloudCheckr, or native GCP tools is advantageous. An understanding of multi-cloud FinOps strategies would be beneficial. A consulting background or experience in client-facing roles is preferred.
