The position of Senior Mechanical Design Engineer within the ATRI Engineering Mechatronics & Motion Systems division in India / Ahmedabad requires a candidate to lead the design of motorized, servo-controlled, and gear-driven assemblies for handheld, portable, and robotic applications. Reporting to the VP of Engineering, the ideal candidate should possess technical expertise in mechanical systems, collaborative skills, and a systems-level mindset. Responsibilities include designing motor-driven and gear-based assemblies for high-performance applications, selecting motors, gears, and actuation mechanisms, optimizing gearing and housings for reliability, and supporting robotic subsystem development. The engineer will also conduct tolerance analysis, mechanical FEA, and kinematic modeling, collaborate on firmware integration for motion control systems, and build and test mechanical prototypes. The candidate must have at least 5 years of experience in mechanical system design with a focus on motorized assemblies, servos, and gear trains. Proficiency in CAD tools, knowledge of motor types, experience in mechanical analysis and lab-based testing, and a degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field are required. Hands-on experience in robotic arms or motion systems, familiarity with motion controllers and coding in Python or C/C++ are preferred qualifications. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, coordinating with vendors, supporting quality reviews and production transition.
