Job Description

Overview: The Lab Technician Haematology is responsible for performing routine and specialized haematology tests to assist in the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of patients. The role requires accurate sample handling, analysis, and reporting while adhering to laboratory safety and quality standards in a hospital environment.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks

  • Collect, label, and process blood and other relevant specimens following standard operating procedures.
  • Perform routine haematology tests including complete blood counts (CBC), differential counts, haemoglobin estimation, coagulation studies, and other specialized tests.
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain haematology analysers and laboratory equipment.
  • Prepare blood smears, stains, and slides for microscopic examination.
  • Identify abnormal cells or patterns and flag them for review by a pathologist.
  • Record and maintain accurate laboratory results in patient records and laboratory information systems.
  • Ensure strict adherence to laboratory safety and biosafety protocols, infection control measures, and biohazard handling procedures.
  • Participate in internal and external quality control and proficiency testing programs.
  • Maintain inventory of reagents, consumables, and equipment, and report deficiencies.
  • Assist in maintaining NABL/ NABH documentation.
  • Diploma or BSc. in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3+years of experience in haematology laboratory settings, preferably in a hospital.
  • Strong knowledge of haematology principles, laboratory techniques and instrumentation.
  • Well versed with handling of latest equipments.
  • Good communication, teamwork, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle emergency cases when needed.
  • Proficiency in laboratory information systems and basic computer skills.
  • Commitment to patient confidentiality and ethical laboratory practices.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
