Lab technician

The Lab Technician will support daily laboratory operations in the IVF unit, ensuring accurate sample handling, equipment maintenance, and adherence to quality and safety standards. The role is critical in maintaining smooth laboratory workflows and supporting embryologists and clinicians in assisted reproductive procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in preparation, handling, labeling, and storage of biological samples (semen, oocytes, embryos) as per protocols
• Maintain cleanliness and sterility of IVF and andrology laboratories
• Prepare culture media, reagents, and consumables under supervision
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment (centrifuges, incubators, microscopes, laminar flow hoods, etc.)
• Perform routine quality checks, calibration, and documentation
• Ensure proper waste disposal and biohazard management as per regulatory guidelines
• Maintain accurate laboratory records, logs, and inventory
• Assist embryologists during procedures such as semen analysis, sperm preparation, and basic lab tasks
• Follow SOPs, NABH/ICMR guidelines, and infection control policies
• Report equipment issues or deviations immediately to senior staff
