Position Type: Full-Time

Summary: The Chemistry Lab Instructor is responsible for facilitating laboratory sessions, providing hands-on instruction, and ensuring a safe and effective learning environment for students. The instructor will guide students in performing experiments, analyzing data, and understanding chemical principles in alignment with the course curriculum.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Instructional Support:
  • Prepare and deliver engaging laboratory sessions that reinforce theoretical concepts.
  • Demonstrate proper techniques for laboratory equipment and safety protocols.
  • Assist students in developing skills for conducting experiments and analyzing results.
  • Curriculum Development:
  • Collaborate with faculty to design and update laboratory exercises and experiments.
  • Create instructional materials, including lab manuals, guides, and assessment tools.
  • Safety and Compliance:
  • Ensure all laboratory activities comply with safety regulations and best practices.
  • Conduct safety training for students and monitor adherence to safety protocols.
  • Assessment and Feedback:
  • Evaluate student performance in laboratory work and provide constructive feedback.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and lab reports.
  • Student Support:
  • Provide academic support and mentorship to students, addressing individual learning needs.
  • Hold regular office hours to assist students with lab-related questions and concerns.
  • Equipment and Resource Management:
  • Oversee the maintenance and organization of laboratory equipment and supplies.
  • Assist in inventory management and procurement of laboratory materials.
  • Continuous Improvement:
  • Stay current with developments in chemistry education and laboratory practices.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities and departmental meetings.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree(Bsc) in Chemistry or a related field.
  • Previous teaching or instructional experience in a laboratory setting.
  • Strong understanding of chemical principles and laboratory techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and students.
  • Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Working Conditions:

  • Work in a laboratory environment with exposure to chemicals and equipment.
  • May require standing for extended periods and lifting moderate weights.
