Lab Assistant

Role & responsibilities

• Preparation of Food Samples: Use appropriate laboratory techniques to prepare food samples for analysis, including but not limited to homogenization, dilution, and sterilization, ensuring that all preparation steps adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs).

• Assisting the Food Analyst: The lab assistant will support the food analyst in sample preparation, assist with sample analysis, and maintain records of reports and other relevant details. Lab assistant will be responsible for the preparation of reagents, standards and records.

• The lab assistant will ensure compliance with procedures and health and safety regulations in

accordance with established policies.

• The lab assistant will be responsible for thoroughly cleaning and sterilizing all laboratory equipment and work areas in accordance with established protocols. Additionally, the lab assistant will maintain a detailed log of cleaning and sterilization activities, documenting the date, time, and methods used, to ensure compliance with laboratory standards and facilitate regular audits.

• The lab assistant will maintain comprehensive records in accordance with ISO 17025:2017 standards,

ensuring that all documentation related to laboratory activities is accurate, complete, and

systematically organized. This includes maintaining logs for sample handling, test procedures, equipment calibration, and quality control checks, all of which are essential for demonstrating compliance with the accreditation requirements. In addition to record-keeping, the lab assistant will also support various tasks related to NABL (National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories).

• The lab assistant will document all laboratory activities, including sample preparation, testing procedures, and results. They will compile and report findings to the administrative authority promptly, ensuring clear communication and compliance with record-keeping standards.

• Lab Assistant shall be prepared to undertake a variety of tasks as assigned by the In-Charge or

Director, demonstrating flexibility in responding to the laboratory's evolving needs and priorities.
