As a Kitchen Assistant, your primary responsibility will be to assist in preparing and cooking South Indian dishes such as dosa, idli, sambar, and chutneys. You will be required to follow recipes and cooking procedures accurately to ensure the authenticity and quality of the dishes. It is essential to maintain cleanliness in your workstation and equipment to uphold hygiene standards. Additionally, you will be responsible for storing ingredients properly, ensuring labeling, and following rotation (FIFO) guidelines. Part of your duties will include assisting with grinding, fermenting, and cooking traditional batters and spice pastes. It is crucial to uphold hygiene and food safety standards at all times to provide a safe dining experience for customers. Effective communication with the kitchen team and the ability to follow instructions promptly are essential for smooth kitchen operations. To qualify for this role, you should have 3-4 years of kitchen experience, preferably in South Indian cuisine. Basic knowledge of South Indian cooking techniques and ingredients is required. A culinary certificate or vocational training in cooking is preferred. Understanding food hygiene and safety standards, the ability to work under pressure, and adherence to kitchen protocols are also essential.
