The QC Head leads the quality team in implementing inspection protocols, managing customer and third-party inspections, reducing internal rejections, and driving continuous improvement. The role plays a vital part in safeguarding product integrity, customer satisfaction, and the company’s reputation for high-performance transformer solutions. Key Responsibilities Quality Control Strategy & Leadership: Develop and implement the overall QC strategy aligned with company goals and industry best practices. Lead, manage, and mentor the entire QC team including inspectors, engineers, and test personnel. Establish and continuously improve QC procedures, inspection plans, and quality benchmarks. Inspection and Testing Oversight: Supervise and approve incoming material inspection (e.g., core, copper/aluminum conductors, insulation, bushings, tap changers). Oversee in-process quality control across all stages—winding, core assembly, insulation, tanking, oil filling, and final assembly. Ensure routine, type, and special tests (as per IEC/IS/ANSI/IEEE) are conducted as per prescribed norms and accurately documented. Verify concentricity, axial clamping, and radial support to minimize vibration and short-circuit stress. CCA Finalization and Clamping: Assemble and fix the complete core and coil unit using clamping frames, tie rods, and pressure rings. Ensure correct positioning of tap leads, neutral leads, and terminal connections as per design. Prepare the CCA for drying, tanking, and oil-filling by confirming structural and dimensional conformity. Process Control and Quality Assurance: Conduct in-process checks to ensure adherence to engineering drawings and quality standards. Inspect and document assembly parameters such as coil-to-core clearance, inter-coil distances, limb centering, insulation placement, and torquing of fasteners. Resolve quality issues like coil deformation, insulation misplacement, lead misalignment, or core damage. Team Supervision and Training: Supervise technicians and fitters in core stacking and CCA operations. Train assembly teams in proper handling techniques of cores and coils to prevent mechanical damage and contamination. Promote safety, discipline, and 5S principles on the shop floor. Coordination with Departments: Liaise with the design team to clarify technical drawings and special assembly requirements. Coordinate with winding, insulation, and tanking departments for timely input/output of materials. Support the testing and quality departments in type tests and FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) by providing correct assemblies. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain records of assembly activities, including coil serial numbers, insulation material traceability, torque settings, and dimensional reports. Prepare daily/weekly reports on assembly progress, issues, and manpower utilization. Contribute to root cause analysis for non-conformities and support continual improvement initiatives. Supervise waste heat recovery boiler (WHRB) operation and steam generation efficiency. Process Instrumentation & Automation: Calibrate and monitor temperature sensors, pressure gauges, flow meters, level controllers. Support SCADA/PLC-based control systems and process data logging. Ensure preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of process instrumentation. Post-Activation & Product Handling: Manage downstream systems: Destoner, RMC Crusher, Rotex Screener, MPE Crusher, Vibratory Screener, Blender. Track throughput, particle size distribution, and carbon blending for target specs. Steam System & Boiler Water Quality: Operate and monitor WHRB and auxiliary boilers for continuous steam supply. Maintain dosing systems to manage boiler water chemistry (pH, hardness, oxygen). Ensure safe and efficient condensate recovery and steam utilization. Process Yield & Emission Monitoring: Track input vs. output yields, process losses, and energy consumption metrics. Monitor stack emissions; maintain settling chamber and dust control systems. Support environmental compliance with TNPCB and internal audit protocols. Troubleshooting & Continuous Improvement: Analyze process deviations using root cause analysis (RCA). Recommend and implement process improvement measures (Kaizen, 5S, Lean). Collaborate with QA, maintenance, and production teams for cross-functional efficiency. Eligibility Criteria:Qualification: B.E. / B.Tech in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, or related field. Training or certification in thermal systems, instrumentation, or process automation is a plus. Experience: 5–10 years in process engineering roles within: Activated Carbon / Cement / Ceramics / Kiln-based or Thermal Process Industries. Hands-on expertise in rotary kiln control, steam systems, and yield optimization. Technical Skills: Rotary kiln process dynamics and steam injection control. WHRB and auxiliary boiler operations with dosing pumps. Stack draft management and environmental compliance. Familiarity with instrumentation (sensors, transmitters, PLC/SCADA). Material handling and particle sizing equipment operation.
