Junior Research Fellow (JRF) Aerospace Propulsion

As a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) at Mahindra University in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering department, you will be working on a project sponsored by the Aeronautics Research and Development Board (AR&DB), DRDO. The project focuses on the "Design Optimization of Turbine Nozzle Guide Vane Three-Dimensional Airfoils." Your primary responsibility will involve conducting CFD simulations for various designs of a turbine stage using software like ANSYS CFX. This will require you to perform tasks such as 3D CAD design of turbine blades, grid generation, CFD simulations, and post-processing of results. The ultimate goal is to derive an optimal turbine stator vane design that minimizes aerodynamic losses. Collaboration with the Gas Turbine Research Establishment (GTRE), DRDO, is an integral part of this research, which will contribute to the design of advanced combat aircraft engine turbines. Key Responsibilities: - Conduct CFD simulations for different designs of a turbine stage - Perform 3D CAD design of turbine blades - Generate grids for simulations - Analyze CFD results to obtain an optimal turbine stator vane design - Collaborate with GTRE, DRDO on the research project Qualifications Required: - M.E/M.Tech from a tier 1 or tier 2 institution in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering - Strong interest in aerospace propulsion - Expertise and familiarity with CFD - Candidates with a BTech degree and strong credentials will also be considered The monthly salary for this position is Rs. 43,600 p.m. (Rs.37,000 + 18% HRA) as per DST standards. If you reside on campus, HRA will not be provided, and deductions will be made towards the mess fees.
