Clinical Training : Junior Residents typically work in hospital settings and gain hands - on clinical experience. They rotate through various medical specialties, such as internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, obstetrics, and gynecology, to gain exposure to different fields of medicine. Patient Care : They are involved in providing direct patient care, including conducting physical examinations, taking medical histories, and participating in the diagnosis and treatment of patients under the supervision of senior physicians. Assisting Senior Residents and Attending Physicians : Junior Residents work closely with senior residents and attending physicians to assist in patient care, surgeries, and procedures, as well as to learn from their experience. Learning and Education : Junior Residents continue to expand their medical knowledge and skills by attending lectures, grand rounds, case discussions, and other educational activities. Documentation : They are responsible for maintaining accurate patient records, including medical charts, progress notes, and other necessary documentation. Shift Work : Junior Residents often work in shifts, including night shifts and weekends, to ensure continuous patient care in a hospital setting. Supervision : While they have the opportunity to practice medicine, Junior Residents work under the supervision of more experienced medical professionals.
