A unique 6-month placement position for an experienced Greenhouse Manager on a commercial greenhouse has become available in our progressive company located in Thandla, MP. Role and Responsibilities We are looking for a Greenhouse Crop Supervisor to play a crucial role in overseeing daily operations of our greenhouse facility. This position requires a strong set of essential skills as well as desirable expertise in greenhouse operations and crop cultivation. You will be based in our high- tech greenhouse in Thandla, MP and will be fully supported by the management team in the UK and an implementation team in India. Required skills summary Excellent communication, planning and report skills with the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team. Proven experience in greenhouse operations with excellent knowledge of hydroponics, protected agriculture and crop cultivation. Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems related to greenhouse operations. Experience with financial reporting and management. Experienced in computer based reporting using tools such as MS-Excel, Word and Powerpoint. Professional proficiency in Hindi and English. Driver’s License. Required Skills breakdown OPERATIONS Communication Skills: Maintain effective communication with project managers, team members and stakeholders, ensuring clear and concise information flow. Problem Solving: Identify and resolve operational challenges and issues in a timely manner, employing creative problem-solving skills to ensure smooth operations. Report Writing: Preparing accurate and timely reports on greenhouse operations including, but not limited to, production statistics, crop health assessments, and sustainability measures. People Management: Supervise and train staff providing guidance, support and performance evaluations to ensure a productive and motivated workforce. Expense Management: Monitor and manage expenses related to operations, including budgeting, costs control and procurement of necessary supplies and equipment. CULTIVATION Protected Agriculture: Implement best practices for protected agriculture, including pest and disease management, climate control and environmental sustainability. Hydroponics Expertise: Apply knowledge and expertise in hydroponic cultivation techniques, ensuring efficient water and nutrient management for optimal plant growth. Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive plans for greenhouse operations, considering factors such as crop rotation, harvesting, schedules, resources and finance. ADDITIONAL Business Development: Approach and acquire new customer bases within the growing Q-commerce and B2C markets. Manage and deliver supply chains accordingly. Project Management: Oversee and coordinate projects, ensuring timely execution and adherence to project timelines and objectives. Constructor Liaison: Collaborate with greenhouse constructors and contractors to ensure the successful construction, maintenance and repair of greenhouse structures and systems delivered on time and within budget. Driver’s Licence: Possess a valid driver’s licence and vehicle for travel requirements. Crop Knowledge: Experience in successfully cultivating hydroponic vine crops such as Capsicums (Bell Pepper), English Cucumbers, Tomatoes, Eggplant (Aubergine) and Melon.
