We're looking for a Software Engineer to design, develop, and improve the digital products and technology services we provide to our clients and employees. You will apply a broad range of software engineering practices, from analyzing user needs and developing new features to automated testing and deployment. Your responsibilities will also include ensuring the quality, security, reliability, and compliance of our solutions by applying our digital principles and implementing both functional and non-functional requirements. Additionally, you will build observability into our solutions, monitor production health, help to resolve incidents, and remediate the root cause of risks and issues. Understanding, representing, and advocating for client needs will be crucial, as well as sharing knowledge and expertise with colleagues, helping with hiring, and contributing regularly to our engineering culture and internal communities. The WMA Data Foundational Platforms & Services Crew is the fuel for the WMA CDIO, providing the foundational, disruptive, and modern platform and technologies. The mission is rooted in the value proposition of a shared, foundational platform across UBS to achieve the most business value. To be successful in this role, you should have 13+ years of experience as a Java engineer and a strong proficiency in one of the modern server-side languages such as Java, Go, Python, or JavaScript. You should also possess a strong understanding of software engineering principles, design patterns, and best practices for building scalable and maintainable code. Experience in building web applications using React.js or similar front-end frameworks, RESTful API development, integrating with external services and databases, and working with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure is essential. Expertise in modern cloud native development, version control systems like Git, and creating robust CI/CD pipelines is required. Additionally, experience leading collaborative software design sessions and continuous improvement of engineering practices is beneficial. An eagerness and willingness to learn new technologies and expertise using database technologies and patterns are also important. Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Technical Skills: Strong proficiency with Java, experience with SQL and data modeling, familiarity with NoSQL databases, and knowledge of data, cloud, and latest technologies. Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze complex data structures and derive insights. Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate and convey complex solutions.
