Job Description

An IVR medical coder job description involves analyzing medical records, especially those for interventional radiology, to assign accurate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes for billing and insurance purposes. Key responsibilities include ensuring compliance, collaborating with healthcare providers, and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines and software. This role requires strong skills in medical terminology, anatomy, and a keen eye for detail.    Core responsibilities

  • Code medical records

    : Analyze patient documentation, including diagnoses, procedures, and treatments, to assign the correct medical codes.

  • Ensure compliance

    : Make sure codes are accurate and follow all relevant regulations, payer requirements, and industry standards.

  • Collaborate with providers

    : Work with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and resolve any coding discrepancies.

  • Maintain knowledge

    : Stay current with updates to coding guidelines, regulations, and software.

  • Utilize software

    : Use coding software and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems to input and retrieve data.

  • Quality assurance

    : Participate in quality assurance reviews to improve accuracy and reduce claim denials.
