As a Material Expert at Lucy Electric Manufacturing & Technologies India Pvt Ltd, your main responsibility is to serve as the key contributor in the engineering team for all material-related matters. This includes guiding the team for material selection, preparing material specification documents, staying up to date on emerging materials and technologies, and assessing their potential for new applications. You will also be analyzing material failures or defects and recommending corrective actions or material alternatives, ensuring that all selected materials comply with environmental, safety, and industry-specific regulations such as REACH, RoHS, ASTM, and ISO. Your professional expertise and knowledge will be crucial in all aspects of MV / LV Switchgear development activities. Key Responsibilities: - Evaluate and recommend appropriate materials based on functional requirements such as strength, durability, environmental impact, and cost. This will be measured by test results and cost data. - Conduct or oversee material testing for compliance with various standards and specifications. The success will be measured by the number of tests conducted and validation reports. - Stay up to date on emerging materials and technologies, assess their potential usage for required applications, and explore and evaluate alternate materials to achieve optimum solutions. Performance will be measured by the number of new materials, patents, and cost/performance optimization. - Analyze material failures or defects and recommend corrective actions or material alternatives. The effectiveness will be measured by the number of complaints received and analysis reports generated. - Develop and maintain technical documentation, material datasheets, and specifications. The success in this area will be measured by the number of documents created. - Work with the purchase team to identify and qualify material suppliers, as well as assess material quality and consistency. The performance will be measured by the supplier qualification rate and the number of improvements made. - Ensure all selected materials comply with environmental, safety, and industry-specific regulations such as REACH, RoHS, ASTM, and ISO. Compliance will be measured by compliance reports and non-conformance reports. In this role, you will be responsible for material selection, testing and validation, new material introduction, supplier evaluation for new/specific materials, and root cause analysis for material-related failures. You are expected to work closely with the engineering team, industrial team, purchasing team, and cross-functional team to achieve the desired outcomes. Qualifications, Experience & Skills: - Bachelor of Engineering in Material Science/Technology with industry experience. - 8 to 12 years of experience. - Interpretation of material standards and associated testing, strong knowledge of different material grades, properties, and applications, material testing and analysis, material cost analysis, manufacturing processes, maintaining material database. Moreover, you will provide technical inputs for new product promotion materials and ensure compliance with pharmaceutical documentation and certification requirements. In terms of decision-making, you will work closely with senior management on market trends and customer requirements, taking the lead on idea generation, suggesting product enhancements to the New Product Development (NPD) team, and developing time-to-market strategies post-approval. Your interactions will primarily involve internal teams such as Sales & Marketing, Design, Projects, and Assembly, as well as external customers. The ideal candidate for this position should hold an MBA/PGDM in Marketing and a degree in B.E/B.Sc/B.Pharm, with exposure to pharmaceutical/consumer brand management being advantageous. Technical competencies required for this role include ACG product knowledge, communication skills, understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, product applications, and the production value chain, as well as technical knowledge related to manufacturing and ACG E products.
