ITL Industries Limited, Indore Job Description – Works Manager Position: Works Manager Experience: Minimum 20 years in Machine Tool Building Industry Location: Sanwer Road, Industrial Area, Indore Department: Works / Production Reporting To: Director – Operations / Managing Director / Sr. Vice President Education: Diploma / Degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred) Compensation: ₹2,00,000 per month (CTC) Job Purpose The Works Manager will be responsible for overall management of manufacturing operations with a primary focus on cost control, efficiency, and productivity across production, manpower, procurement, and resource utilization. The role demands a seasoned leader who not only ensures operational excellence but also drives team performance, collaboration, and collective success , in line with ITL’s reputation for innovation, reliability, and cost-effective solutions. Key Responsibilities 1. Cost Control & Operational Efficiency · Drive cost control measures across production, manpower, procurement, consumables, and vendor management. · Monitor and reduce wastage, rework, rejections, and idle time. · Ensure optimum utilization of manpower and machines for maximum productivity. · Implement lean manufacturing and cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality. 2. Production & Process Management Plan and execute production schedules to achieve on-time delivery. Oversee preventive maintenance to minimize downtime. Ensure continuous process improvements and efficiency enhancement. Monitor inventory levels and reduce unnecessary procurement costs. Ensure optimum utilization of manpower, machinery, and resources. Implement lean manufacturing and productivity improvement measures. Oversee preventive and breakdown maintenance of plant & machinery. 3. Quality & Compliance Collaborate with the Quality Control department to maintain zero-defect manufacturing with strict adherence to quality standards. Work closely with Quality Control to ensure reliability and durability of products. Maintain stringent quality standards for all machine tools and components. Ensure compliance with ISO, safety, and statutory requirements. 4. Team Leadership & Development Build and lead a high-performing team by fostering collaboration, trust, and accountability. Mentor and coach engineers, supervisors, and technicians to improve both individual and team performance. Identify and address situations where individuals perform well independently but lack team contribution—ensuring a team-driven culture . Promote a safe, disciplined, and motivated shop-floor environment. 5. People & Workforce Management Lead and manage a workforce of engineers, supervisors, and technicians. Train and mentor teams to enhance skill sets and efficiency. Foster a culture of discipline, safety, and teamwork on the shop floor. 6. Cross-Functional & Strategic Coordination Collaborate with Design, R&D, Planning, Purchase, and Service teams for seamless operations. Support new product development and prototype trials with production inputs. Contribute to strategic decisions on capacity expansion and efficiency improvement. Liaise with vendors for outsourced processes and quality assurance. 7. Process & Technology Drive process improvements, automation, and technology adoption. Coordinate with R&D for prototype trials and new machine development. Ensure compliance with ISO, safety, and statutory norms. Key Skills & Competencies Proven track record in cost control and resource optimization. Strong leadership with the ability to build, manage, and inspire teams. In-depth knowledge of machine tool building, assembly, and testing. Expertise in lean manufacturing, Kaizen, and productivity improvement. Excellent decision-making, problem-solving, and crisis management skills. Hands-on experience with CNC/NC machines and high-speed metal cutting technology. Strong communication skills to align cross-functional teams. Performance Indicators (KPIs) Reduction in production costs, rework, and procurement expenses. Achievement of delivery schedules within defined cost parameters. Improvement in team collaboration and collective output. Shop floor productivity, efficiency, and OEE improvement. Employee skill development and retention.
