As a Sustaining Engineer, you will be responsible for troubleshooting software, hardware, and networking in a fast-paced, and expanding primary storage market. Primary responsibilities include being the interface for our primary storage engineering team by handling customer issues that have been escalated from our customer support group. The ideal candidate will have industry experience in a sustaining engineering support group along with software development to help in troubleshooting. Job Duties Quickly analyze customer issues live or through logs/cores/kdumps to isolate product issues or environmental configurations. Work directly with development engineering, test, service engineers to develop tactical solutions for customer issues. Duplicate customer issues as Oversee and administer internal Engineering lab Ability to review code to mitigate or fix customer Inclusion in the Sustaining On-call Job Requirements BS Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field of study is Experience in sustaining engineering, maintenance, support and other customer-related areas is required. 3+ years experience working in a Linux environment is 3+ years software development in C or C++ is Experience in writing scripts: Python, Perl, shell scripting, and other scripting tools is Experience using debugging tools such as GDB is Experience with Git and Jira is Experience with object storage is Experience with distributed systems is highly Experience with advanced networking configuration of switches and operating systems is highly desirable. As part of the 24/7 IT backup operations team, you will be directly responsible for overseeing Backup related processes. Your role will involve taking a leadership position within customer teams and internal teams to address issues, manage managed Zerto operations, and restore systems to operational status when necessary. Effective communication between technical teams, customers, and internal organization will be essential to meet customer needs and ensure customer satisfaction. Specific responsibilities for this role include maintaining complex Backup Solutions, which may entail Virtual libraries, Disk to Disk Backup systems, physical Tape Libraries, OS, Backup Software, Switch, SAN, or Library components. You will be expected to support and troubleshoot backup, recovery, and archiving in a large, complex, and widely distributed environment. Analyzing daily backup failures, identifying root causes, and systematically resolving issues to achieve a close to 100% Backup success rate will be a key part of your responsibilities. You will also be required to provide status and progress reports for backup environment-related activities and tasks on a regular/periodic basis, plan and implement best practices for backup solutions, ensure adequate storage capacity is available through proactive measures, create and update documentation for backup procedures and solutions, and perform configuration changes as per design and build. Additionally, you should have the capability to upgrade backup software across different versions, conduct regular patching in the backup environment, and collaborate with OEM support for issue resolution. **Experience:** **Required:** - Professional degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 5 years of related IT experience. - Hands-on experience of at least 5 years in Operations and Support on Backup applications such as Zerto. - Familiarity with other backup solutions like Veeam, Data Protector, Commvault, NetBackup. - Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills on Tape Libraries, Library Management software, SAN connectivity, backup software, etc. - General knowledge of networking concepts and the iSCSI protocol. - Experience in resolving backup failures in collaboration with Commvault support. - Understanding of engaging OEM support and escalation on Zerto, Veeam, Data Protector, Commvault issues. **Must Have:** - At least 5 years of Enterprise Backup Zerto troubleshooting or Administration experience. - Network fundamentals. - Concepts of Enterprise Backup solution: Job scheduling, automation, reporting, Backup Performance, Basic Backup failure troubleshooting. - Understanding of Tape rotation and Tape management on Physical Tape Libraries in the Backup environment. - Experience with D2d and/or Physical Library Backup Products like StoreOnce, MSL Tape Libraries, or equivalent. - Proficiency in at least one Operating system. **Preferable:** - Knowledge of Remote Support and Remote monitoring processes and concepts. - Tools Knowledge on Service Now. - ITIL Certified. **Requirements:** **Certifications:** - The ideal candidate will be trained and certified in Zerto or any Enterprise Backup application. **Technical Skills:** - Demonstrated in-depth understanding of several products in more than one functional area involving usage, configuration, and interaction with other products. - Strong troubleshooting, technical communication, and written skills. - Excellent technical communication skills, both verbal and written. **Interpersonal Skills:** - Self-Starter with exceptional problem-solving skills. - Customer service-oriented mindset & attitude. - Professionalism in all interactions with internal and external customers. - Success/Achievement Orientation with a focus on delivering quality results consistently. - Proactive problem-solving and innovation abilities. - Collaborative approach with effective negotiation skills. **Benefits:** Join an emerging recruitment consulting and services firm working with a leading American multinational information technology company.
