Job description Job Title: Interior Designer Job Summary: An Interior Designer is responsible for designing and enhancing the interior spaces of residential, commercial, hospitality, or retail buildings. They combine creativity, technical knowledge, and project management skills to create spaces that are both functional and visually appealing, while aligning with client needs, safety standards, and design trends. Key Responsibilities: 1. Client Consultation & Concept Development Meet with clients to understand their goals, budget, style preferences, and functional needs. Conduct site visits to assess existing conditions and take measurements. Develop initial design concepts, sketches, and mood boards for client approval. 2. Space Planning & Design Create space plans that optimize layout, lighting, circulation, and ergonomics. Select materials, furniture, color schemes, fabrics, flooring, and lighting. Ensure compliance with accessibility and building codes. 3. Visualization & Documentation Use design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, or 3ds Max for floor plans and 3D models. Prepare technical drawings, elevations, and detailed specifications for contractors. Present final designs through visual presentations and renderings. 4. Project Coordination Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and other consultants. Source materials, furnishings, and accessories from vendors. Monitor project timelines, budgets, and on-site work progress. Perform quality checks during installation to ensure design integrity. 5. Trend & Market Awareness Stay updated with current design trends, new materials, and sustainability practices. Attend trade shows, exhibitions, and supplier meetings. Key Skills & Qualifications: Strong understanding of interior design principles, space planning, and color theory. Proficiency in design software: AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, etc. Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Knowledge of construction processes, safety regulations, and building codes. Degree or diploma in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field. Work Environment: May work in design studios, offices, or on-site at construction locations. Often involves travel to client sites, showrooms, and supplier locations. Work hours may extend during project deadlines or installations.
