Position Summary We are seeking a highly motivated and self-sufficient MES Specialist to take complete ownership of our new Manufacturing Execution System. This is a unique, stand-alone role where you will be the single point of contact for implementing, managing, and optimizing the entire MES infrastructure. You will be responsible for everything from initial vendor collaboration and system setup to ongoing maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem-solver with a strong background in Linux, scripting, and industrial systems. You are not afraid to get your hands dirty, write a script to solve a problem, or dive deep into system logs to find a root cause. Key Responsibilities End-to-End MES Implementation: Lead the full lifecycle deployment of our new MES, from planning and architecture design to final commissioning. Vendor & Commissioning Management: Serve as the primary technical liaison with the MES vendor. Collaborate closely with them during setup, integration, and user acceptance testing (UAT) to ensure the system meets our operational needs. System Administration & Maintenance: Install, configure, and maintain the MES application, underlying databases, and server environment, which will be primarily Linux-based. Perform regular system updates, patches, and backups. Automation & Scripting: Develop and maintain scripts (using Python, Bash, or similar) to automate routine tasks, monitor system health, integrate disparate systems, and generate custom reports. Troubleshooting & Support: Act as the first and only line of support for all MES-related issues. Diagnose and resolve problems related to software, database performance, network connectivity, and equipment data collection. Equipment Integration: Work to connect our SMT (Surface Mount Technology) lines and other manufacturing equipment to the MES, ensuring reliable and accurate data flow. System Monitoring & Optimization: Proactively monitor system performance, uptime, and data integrity. Analyze performance bottlenecks and implement solutions to ensure the system runs efficiently and scales with our growth. Documentation: Create and maintain clear, comprehensive documentation for system configurations, processes, and troubleshooting procedures. Required Qualifications & Skills (Must-Haves) Experience: 3+ years of hands-on experience in a similar role, such as MES Engineer, Industrial Automation Specialist, or Manufacturing Systems Administrator. Linux Proficiency: Strong command of the Linux operating system (e.g., Ubuntu, CentOS). Comfortable with command-line administration, shell scripting (Bash), and managing services. Scripting Expertise: Proven proficiency in at least one scripting language, preferably Python , for automation and data manipulation. Database Knowledge: Experience working with SQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL), including writing queries, monitoring performance, and performing basic administrative tasks. Networking Fundamentals: Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking concepts, including firewalls, ports, and troubleshooting connectivity issues between servers and shop-floor equipment. Independent Mindset: A demonstrable ability to work independently, manage priorities, and drive projects to completion with minimal supervision. Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent analytical and debugging skills with a persistent, methodical approach to solving complex technical issues. Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Have) B.Tech (CS/IT), MCA Direct experience in an EMS or electronics manufacturing environment (familiarity with SMT, AOI, SPI machines is a huge plus). Knowledge of industrial communication protocols. Prior experience with a specific MES software platform Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker. Basic understanding of PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) integration.
