The job involves contributing to the technical development and delivery of studies and analysis within the power systems team. This includes delivering consulting work related to various types of power systems studies and analysis such as static studies (e.g., load flow, fault level, reactive compensation), dynamic studies (e.g., stability studies), harmonic analysis, power quality, filter design, transient overvoltage, insulation coordination, control interaction studies, earthing studies, protection coordination, and Arc Flash studies. The Opportunity This role will be based in our Bangalore Office, ensuring the successful delivery of technically excellent multidisciplinary rail projects and bids primarily in the India & UK portfolio and as well as global. In this role as Traction power design engineer, you will be joining our lively and dynamic rail team where you will be a key contributor within a wider multi-disciplinary rail team, responsible for the successful delivery of our design commissions for our major clients in globally. Is this role right for you Your core domain will be Traction Power Design, you will be responsible for determining the design requirements of wide range of Traction power systems [that may include 1x25kV, 2x25kV, Static frequency Converters (SFC), and 1500V or 750V DC] from our client brief and be able to make sound decisions and propose the right design solutions with guidance of Traction Power Team Lead. Subsequently, produce the necessary Traction power design with the support of senior experts, and provide effective solutions to multidisciplinary design teams working on large or medium-sized projects within the allocated budget and schedule. All the while, you will have the freedom to work independently, managing your own personal development utilizing our in- house and external training opportunities, where you will work with a team of engineers in your team. You will be responsible for production of Traction power supply (TPS), EHV/HV/MV Distribution and Earthing and Bonding design at all stages of design [Concept/Preliminary to detailed design]. Ability to identify design requirements from technical reports and calculation sheets. Producing Preliminary and detailed design (including Power Supply & Distribution equipment layout plans, single line diagrams, equipment sizing, installation details, protection & control, schematics, bills of quantity, wiring and cable plans within multi-disciplinary rail projects). You should have experience in substation design including TSS/RSS/Feeding Stations/Midpoint sectioning (SP/SSP) etc with competent enough in the production of design drawings using CAD (e.g. Bentley MicroStation / AutoCAD tools) You will perform the AC/DC traction power simulation studies (power factor, load flow, stability, short circuit, and stray current etc.) including Harmonics, Resonance, Protection relay setting and coordination studies. Capable to understand the Earthing & Bonding studies, stray current/corrosion mitigation strategies for AC/DC traction systems. Qualifications Overall discipline experience of above 8 years with relevant experience of 6 years in an independent Traction Power design engineer role with strong demonstrating design skills, ability to understand simulation studies with the use of technical software with an appropriate university engineering degree in Electrical Engineering and ideally an associate member/chartership of IET or equivalent. Experience in a design engineer role and good understanding of construction methods and installation, Vendor Approvals, involvement in design safety discussions with good technical demonstration skills. Experience in production of complete Traction power system package deliverables for Depot, Main line/at-grade, Elevated and Underground sections with good Knowledge in emerging technologies including 2x25kV AT system and Static frequency converters (SFCs) will be an added advantage ? Involved in preparation of design basis reports, ability to interpret technical specifications and understand technical notes/queries under supervision with good Knowledge of OLE/OCS, 3rd Rail, Railway infra structure and systems with experience in undertaking site surveys, site visits and reporting on asset conditions with knowledge on power system modelling and capable to handle ETAP/ DigSILENT/CDGES software etc. Good working knowledge of relevant British/Europe Standards, India Standards, Railway Group and Network Rail Standards and knowledge of preparing bill of quantities [BoQ] Good Knowledge of complex traction simulation studies, including insulation coordination, Di-electric coordination studies and in semi-high speed and high-speed rail projects will be advantage with excellent report writing and communication skills. We are seeking a skilled and innovative Power Electronics Engineer to design, develop, and test high-voltage power electronic systems and components for critical applications. The role involves working with systems above 1kV, including converters, inverters, high-voltage supplies, and related circuitry for industrial, medical, or renewable energy devices. Key Responsibilities: Design and develop high-voltage power electronic circuits including DC-DC converters, inverters, rectifiers, and SMPS. Select and simulate appropriate topologies for high-efficiency, high-reliability applications. Conduct thermal, electrical, and EMI/EMC analysis for power circuits and systems. Perform PCB design with high voltage creepage/clearance and isolation requirements in mind. Collaborate with embedded engineers for control implementation using DSPs, FPGAs, or microcontrollers.
